The main part of SP9 from September 9 to 12 will take place in the School of Industrial Engineering (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales, ETSII) of the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM), located in one of the the main arteries of Madrid, Paseo de la Castellana, in an emblematic building called Palace of Industry and Arts.

With 4,500 students, 300 professors, 790 researchers in R&D projects and exchange agreements with more than 140 universities around the world, ETSII is the leading Spanish Industrial Engineering School by experience, demand for admissions, innovation and international projection. Established in 1845, it has been located in the current building since 1907.

SP9 will be open on September 8 with an evening session taking place in the headquarters of the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC), located very close to ETSII. CSIC is the main agent responsible for implementing the Spanish System for Science, Technology and Innovation, and its mission is to promote, coordinate, develop and disseminate scientific and technological multidisciplinary research, in order to contribute to the progress of knowledge and economic, social and cultural development; as well as to train researchers and provide advice to public and private entities in these fields.
